Join the Midlands Heating & Air Team
We’re a crew that shows up — for each other, for our customers, and for the work that matters. If you’re a licensed HVAC technician or apprentice who values integrity, teamwork, and a workplace that treats you with respect, we’d like to hear from you.
Who We Are
A Locally Owned Omaha HVAC Company Built on Doing Things Right
Midlands Heating & Air was founded in 2015 with a straightforward mission: be the HVAC company that Omaha homeowners and businesses actually want to deal with. That means showing up on time, diagnosing accurately, pricing honestly, and doing work that holds up — every job, every time. It sounds simple, but executing it consistently is what separates companies that build lasting reputations from those that don’t.
Ten years in, we’ve built a team that takes that mission seriously. Our technicians don’t just show up to run service calls — they represent Midlands in the homes and businesses of Omaha’s communities, and they do it with the kind of professionalism and care that earns five-star reviews and repeat customers. Our 4.9-star Google rating across 76-plus verified reviews is a direct reflection of the team we’ve assembled and the culture we’ve built.
We’re growing — and we’re looking for the right people to grow with us. Not just technically skilled HVAC professionals, though that matters enormously, but people who share the values that make this company what it is: honesty, reliability, and genuine pride in the work they do. If that sounds like you, we’d like to talk.

HVAC Installation Technician

This role requires a higher level of technical skill and the ability to work efficiently through complete system replacements from start to finish.

- • Strong installation background — furnaces, AC systems, heat pumps

Why Work Here
What It’s Like to Work at Midlands Heating & Air
We know you have options when it comes to where you take your HVAC career. Here’s what Midlands offers beyond a paycheck.
Competitive Compensation
We pay our technicians well because skilled, licensed HVAC professionals deserve to be compensated fairly. We structure pay to reward experience, technical skill, and consistent quality work.
A Culture of Integrity
At Midlands, you’ll never be asked to upsell a customer on something they don’t need, recommend a replacement when a repair is the right answer, or cut corners on an installation. We’ve built our reputation on doing things right.
Real Growth Path
Starting as an apprentice or journeyman at Midlands isn’t a dead end. We invest in the people who work here and promote from within. The technicians who demonstrate skill and integrity have a clear path forward.
A Team That Has Your Back
Small enough that you’re not just a number, large enough to have real resources and a real workload. When you’re out in the field, you have experienced colleagues and management you can reach when you need support.
Quality Equipment & Tools
We outfit our technicians with the tools and vehicles they need to do the job correctly. You won’t be asked to improvise with inadequate equipment or spend your own money on tools we should be providing.
Omaha — A Great Place to Work
We operate throughout the Omaha metro and surrounding communities — no excessive travel, no overnight trips. Work in the city where you live, serving real neighbors in a community that values quality local businesses.
Our Values
The Values That Drive Everything We Do
These aren’t aspirational statements on a wall. They’re the actual principles that guide how we operate every day — in the field, in the office, and with each other.
Integrity in Every Job
We never recommend work that isn’t needed. We price honestly. We stand behind what we do. That standard applies equally to how we treat customers and how we treat each other.
We Invest in Our People
The skilled HVAC professionals on our team were built over years of hands-on work. We support ongoing training, licensing, and professional development because it makes our team better and our service stronger.
We Show Up
Reliability isn’t optional at Midlands. Customers count on us, and our team members count on each other. Showing up — on time, prepared, and ready to work — is foundational to who we are.
Honest Communication
Whether it’s a conversation with a customer about a repair estimate or a conversation with a manager about a challenging job, we communicate directly and honestly. No politics, no games.
Diagnosis Before Recommendation
We fix the actual problem, not the easiest thing to fix. Our technicians are trained and expected to diagnose accurately before making any recommendation — to customers and to management.
Local, Community-Focused
We’re an Omaha company serving Omaha people. That’s not just a marketing line — it shapes how we operate. Our technicians live in these neighborhoods and care about the quality of work they leave behind.
Day in the Life
What the Work Actually Looks Like at Midlands
One of the things people who join Midlands often tell us is that they appreciate the variety of the work. In a given week, a Midlands service technician might perform a furnace tune-up in an established Omaha neighborhood, diagnose an AC failure for a family in the middle of a summer heat wave, troubleshoot an intermittent heat pump issue in a commercial building, and respond to a midnight emergency call for a homeowner who woke up to no heat in January.
That variety keeps the work interesting — and it builds genuine technical expertise faster than any training program. Working across the full range of residential and commercial systems, on equipment from every major manufacturer, in Omaha’s challenging climate, develops the diagnostic instincts that separate good HVAC technicians from great ones.
At Midlands, you’ll never be pushed to upsell work that isn’t needed or recommend a replacement when a repair is the honest answer. You make recommendations based on what’s actually best for the customer — and management backs you up on that. Our customers trust us because they know that, and our 4.9-star Google rating reflects years of technicians making the right calls even when it wasn’t the more profitable one.
You’ll be supported with properly stocked service vehicles, access to technical resources when you need them, and colleagues you can call when you run into something unusual. The expectation is that you bring your skills and your integrity to every job — and we give you the tools and the backup to do that well.

Who We’re Looking For
The Qualities That Make a Great Midlands Team Member
Technical skill matters — a lot. But it’s not the only thing we look for when we hire. We’ve found over the years that the technicians who thrive at Midlands and become long-term, valued members of the team are the ones who combine technical competence with a set of personal qualities that are harder to train than HVAC skills.
Technical Qualifications
- ✓Nebraska HVAC license — required for service and installation technician roles
- ✓EPA 608 certification — required for any role involving refrigerant handling
- ✓Gas furnace diagnostic and repair experience — the core of what we do through Omaha’s long heating season
- ✓Central air conditioning and refrigerant experience — required for summer cooling demand
- ✓Heat pump knowledge — increasingly important as adoption grows in the Omaha market
- ✓Clean driving record — you’ll be operating a company vehicle in Omaha’s neighborhoods daily
Personal Qualities We Prioritize
- ✓Reliability — you show up when you’re scheduled, you complete what you start, and your colleagues can count on you
- ✓Honesty — you tell customers what they actually need, not what generates the highest ticket, and you communicate the same way with management
- ✓Attention to detail — HVAC work done right the first time saves everyone time, money, and stress; done carelessly it creates problems that are expensive to fix
- ✓Customer communication — you can explain what you found and what needs to happen in plain language that customers understand and appreciate
- ✓Continuous learning mindset — HVAC technology evolves; technicians who stay current deliver better outcomes for customers and grow faster professionally
- ✓Team orientation — you don’t operate in a silo; you share knowledge, ask when you need help, and contribute to the team’s overall performance
For Apprentice Roles
If you’re early in your HVAC career, the technical threshold is lower — but the personal quality bar is just as high. We’d rather hire a motivated, honest person who’s still building skills than a technically capable technician who cuts corners or doesn’t communicate well with customers. If you’re in an HVAC training program or recently completed one, and you want to build your career at a company that will actually invest in your development, reach out.
HVAC Careers in Omaha
Why an HVAC Career in Omaha Is a Strong Long-Term Choice
Omaha is one of the Midwest’s most stable and growing metro areas — and the HVAC trade here reflects that stability. The demand for skilled heating and cooling professionals in Omaha is strong and consistent, driven by a large base of residential and commercial properties, a climate that demands reliable HVAC equipment year-round, and an aging housing stock that generates steady replacement and service work.
HVAC is also one of the trades most insulated from economic volatility. When Omaha’s winters hit and a furnace stops working, homeowners don’t postpone the repair. When a business loses air conditioning during a summer heat wave, fixing it isn’t optional. Skilled HVAC technicians in Omaha have consistent work across economic cycles in a way that many other industries don’t offer.
The industry is also evolving in ways that reward technicians who stay current. Heat pump adoption is accelerating. High-efficiency variable-speed systems require more sophisticated diagnostics than older single-stage equipment. Smart thermostats and connected controls are increasingly standard. Indoor air quality solutions — humidifiers, air purifiers, UV systems — are a growing part of service calls. Technicians who develop expertise across these areas are increasingly valuable.
At Midlands, you’ll work across this full range of modern HVAC technology in Omaha’s real-world conditions — the high heating loads of a Nebraska winter, the humidity challenges of the Omaha summer, and the diverse mix of residential and commercial equipment across a growing metro area. That breadth of experience builds careers.
